The time is nigh...

...and I am not talking about Christmas... ^^

I am talking about the release of my own miniature line. In my last post I promised to show some of the pictures I have made for the online shop but first I would like to share with you some pictures of commissions that got released in the meantime.

Stronghold Terrain asked me to sculpt some animals for a set they wanted for their line. These were really a challenge being so very tiny but against my own assumption I enjoyed sculpting them very much.

But now onto the promised pictures of my own miniatures.
One week ago I visited my buddy Stefan in Olfen again and finished the production of the metal miniatures.
Though my miniature line is still somewhat small with only 15 items (and 7 of those being conversion bits) I have already cast a huge amount of white metal alloy to see the first batch done.

My miniatures are produced in the "classical way", which means spin casting a white metal alloy into silicone moulds.

Here it is the dwarfs. (Of course...^^)

In the end pictures of the first two painted miniatures of my miniature line: The "Lansquenet Dwarf Bidenhänder Champion" and the "Lansquenet Dwarf Bidenhänder Musician".

In the coming days I will reveal more pictures of the painted miniatures so stay stuned. :-)

Back I am, news I got...

Hiho there!

Back I am, news I got... That pretty much sums it up.

France and Spain have been up to every expectation I had - what a trip!
We had much luck with the weather, even in northern Spain, where the average annual rainfall is even higher than where I live here in Germany.
I won't even start to talk about all the good meals we had, it just would take too long. ;-D
Most of all it definitely was nice to see my relatives again and find them all well. Grandma - she just turned 90 this year - reprimanded me though not to wait another six years to come back to visit them.

Anyway, that was just a quick note on my trip to Spain, but what news have I got for you miniature-loving lot?

First, some more stuff I sculpted has been released, the chaps from Tabletop-Art making the start here.
They asked me to sculpt a fantasy football related helmet and then do some conversions of it. Fantasy football was a first for me and definitely was fun, even if it just has been some helmets.
Here is what I sculpted for them:

From that stuff they even did some conversions themselves like adding skulls into the helmets to get some pieces for an Undead Team:

Blight Wheel Miniatures are renewing their Sino Russia Stuff.
So far I have done new heads and torsos for them:

Like with the Tabletop-Art helmets I first did a presculpt head and converted that then to safe some time.

Same with the torsos:

In the next picture you can see the difference in size between the old Sino Russia Torso (far right) and the new ones (both in the middle). The torso on the far left is one of the Grant's Spectres Torsos and as you can see the new Sino Russia Torsos go well along those in size comparison.

 Furthermore the guys from Blight Wheel also released the first stuff I sculpted for them - Cloaks.
The set contains three "normal" cloaks, one for their "kneeling" leg variant, and finally one shorter torn cloak:

Last news before my holidays

Hiho there :-)

Three more days and the waiting is over - I will then be heading for France and Spain, looking forward to good food, sunny weather, golden beaches and trekking through northern Spain's mountains - YEEHAAA!

But before that I want to share some more news with you of course.

One of the last sculpts to leave my workbench is a half-naked chainsaw-wielding vampire for a private costumer.
The chainsaw I sculpted using a mixture of green stuff and milliput, the vampire itself is sculpted in BeeSPutty, as usual.

The costumer asked for some changes, so I made the waist a bit slimmer and the mouth a bit smaller.

The next miniature I can show is a gargoyle I sculpted for Mantic Games. He is called Ba'su'su and is the lord of all gargoyles, a special character for the supplement "Kings and Legends".

Like ice in the sunshine...

...I am melting away...lalalalala...

This day finally sees some relief of the heat of the last days...
Temperatures above 30° Celsius (86°F) and air humidity above 80 % really did dampen my enthusiasm for work (or anything else, that is...well, with the exception of gobbling up large amounts of ice cream...^^).

Anyway, thinks got to keep rolling and so this month too I have some releases to show which got sculpted by my spindly crooked fingers.

Tabletop-Art really took their time releasing the following stuff. The bony pieces were done back in 2011 and the icicles in 2012:

Finished quite recently is the Dark Paladin for a guy called Tim Jonker and his upcoming company:

I sometimes get asked what sculpting putty I do use.
As with all my stuff most of the miniature is sculpted with BeeSPutty, an ofen-hardening sculpting putty designed especially for miniature sculpting (The green parts are done in green stuff and/or a mixture of green stuff and milliput).

One of the many advantages of this BeeSPutty is that it is not mandatory to presculpt the miniature.
This means that you need not have a layer of green stuff or ProCreate or something similar beneath your texture.
You can sculpt right away directly onto your wire armature.

For those who like to sculpt really tiny stuff or just prefer their sculpting putty a bit more firm than usual BeeSPutty is available now in extra firm.

Private Practice

It's been a while that I did something for a private costumer, so I was rather excited about the job offer I got from Mr. B.

He is a huge DSA Fan (DSA = Das schwarze Auge, a german "pen & paper" roleplaying game) and so he asked me to sculpt him in the style of the Ulisses "Schicksalspfade" miniatures which I have been working on a lot in the past months. The skirmish game "Schicksalspfade" is settled in the world of DSA.

I got a bunch of pictures of him in a medieval costume and also a suggestion for the pose. I could share pics of the finished sculpt now, but he asked me to wait with that. He and Ulisses agreed to show the miniature when it is painted up on the Ulisses home page and Mr. B. asked me to wait with showing pics of the sculpt untill then, so there.

He also wanted me to convert the officer of the  Imperial Guard Vostroyan Command Squad from Games Workshop, so that he resembles Vostroyan Lord Marshall Graf Harazahn and these pics I can show:

Finally MaxMini released some arm options I sculpted for their "Great Coat" themed legs and torso:

I am waiting for Mantic, Blight Wheel Miniatures and Stronghold Terrain to release the latest sculpts I did for them so that I can share some pictures with you. Also Ulisses have a new faction for their skirmish game in the pipe which I sculpted some months ago. Hope those will hit the shelves soon, too.

Late, late, late...

Narf! I missed May for an update - too bad!

May was pretty busy a month for me. Time consuming commissions for Mantic Games to do, preparations for the Roleplay Convention in Cologne and furthering the release of my own miniatures.

I have produced all but one of the necessary moulds for casting my stuff in white metal which gets me a huge step along on the way to my own miniature line.

At the Roleplay Convention in Cologne last weekend I could see some of my sculpts hitting the shelves.
Ulisses released the Dwarfs for their skirmish game "Schicksalspfade":

On my workbench...

...are my own miniatures at the moment.
Currently I am painting the last two miniatures of my own line. When that is done I will start to do the pictures for the online shop.

Apart from that I have been busy sculpting too.
The two sculpts for Mantic I mentioned last time are finished and shipped to the UK and from what the chaps there tell me May will come along with more commissions to do.
Also finished is a commission for Stronghold Terrain. I did a set of animals for them, maybe you can find them on facebook.
Last but not least I did a first commission for Blight Wheel Miniatures.
As soon as they all release the stuff I will show pictures.

Of course I want to show some pictures now. Victoria Miniatures released more bits for their range so I can show these pics:

The first is a remake of Vic's popular "Kilted Legs". I also did one pair of legs in sitting position for those.
The same I did for the "Conscript Legs". Last in line is a set of beastman legs.
