My first Mantic release...

... and more stuff.

It took them quite some time to get it released but now I can show my first sculpt I did for Mantic from England.
And there is a story behind this sculpt too.
The Artwork for this miniature was done by a guy named Klaus Scherwinski, commissioned by a german tabletop-magazine called Tabletop Insider.
It was to be the front cover of issue no. 07 in January/February 2012:

I got contacted by the magazines' editor to discuss a realisation of the artwork into a miniature.
In the end they did not really know how to distribute the miniature - a give-away in the magazine maybe?
Alas, it was not to be, as they had to realise that they lacked the monetary means to see this venture done and so they came up with the idea to get Mantic into the boat. Said - done!

From what I know Ronnie Renton from Mantic got informed and was thrilled by the idea.
I then got a mail from Mike McVey who at that time was Art Director for Mantic and we discussed the details.
In the middle of June 2012 I had the sculpt finished:

It was the first Sci-Fi miniature I sculpted. Hard surface took me quite some time, but it was fun nonetheless.

At the moment I am busy finishing another two sculpts for Mantic and painting the last miniatures of my own line. I hope the dwarfs for Schicksalspfade get released soon so that I can show them to you lot.

Some old sculpts finally got released

Hi again.
February nears its end and I have not had the time to write my post for this month.
Nothing shall keep me from writing now!

News are to be told and shown, as some rather old sculpts have finally made it into production.

Let me start with the first miniature I contributed for the splendid range of Freebooter Miniatures:

I sculpted this back in early 2012, using a custom made two-component putty called "Beesputty". If you are interested in seeing this miniature painted, or would like to purchase it follow this link.

After much waiting Tabletop-Art finally released some Tank-Upgrade Kits I started as far back as late 2011:

The white plastic card piece with the spine on it is not part of the set...

They also released a set of ghostly steam clouds, conversions of the original steam clouds I did for them some time ago:

And last but not least some damaged skulls (Can there ever be enough skulls? ^^):

My last words in this post go out to the ones who are keen to know any news about my own miniature line.

I am currently spending what time I can on painting the miniatures. The dwarfs and the hog-man are finished, right now I have got the satyr ancient under my brush.

After that I will paint the two robe-guys.

Parallel I have also produced the first two production moulds. As soon as I can I will visit my buddy Stefan again to further this venture.

I know I have kept some of you waiting a long time already. I hope you can bear to wait a bit longer, I promise I do what I can to keep the witing time as short as possible.

Happy New Year!

What better way to start the new year than posting pictures of some new dwarfs?

Though they have not been released yet, Ulisses allowed the german forum of "Brückenkopf-Online" to show a sneak preview of these fellows.

I was rather glad that it was me who was to sculpt the whole dwarven range for the skirmish game "Schicksalspfade". Sculpting dwarfs has always been my favourite and I think that will be so till my dying day.
Differing from what I usually sculpt in dwarfs these have a more "realistic" approach, actually having legs with knees! ;-)

Here the pictures that have already been shown at Brückenkopf:

They are a rather short lot, the first dwarf with the spear for example is 24mm from toe to helmtop.
To give a better a better comparison here a shot of the first one next to a GW dwarf:

Well, that's it for now, I am off - got some more sculpts for a new range of humans for Ulisses to do...  :-)

Yeah, Christmas is here, this year is almost through but I won't let 2012 go without sharing some more pictures with you lot.

It is some kind of a special because most of you won't be able to see pictures of this miniature anywhere else.
Why is that? you might wonder.

Well, because this mini is a promo miniature which was only available when Ulisses started selling their new skirmish game "Schicksalspfade" at the games convention "Spiel 2012" in the city Essen here in Germany back in October.

From what I know only 1000 of this have been cast and are already out of stock. So there!
Working title of this miniature was "Namenloser Geweihter", which means something like "Nameless Sacred One".

More Ulisses Miniatures, Part III

I am a bit late, am I not?

Yes, I think I am a bit late, but I do have good excuses, as I am very busy sculpting away for commissions and on top of that furthering my own line of miniatures.
The resin masters have all been cast and cleaned now and are ready to be used for the casting moulds.

Those moulds I have ordered have arrived in the meantime so that I will be visiting my buddy Stefan from Masquerade Miniatures more often in the near future in order to produce the moulds for metal casting using his facilities (a big THANKS in advance to you, Stefan).

My ordered tin alloy has yet to arrive, which won't happen this year, that much I have been told.

I aimed to get the realease done this year still but, alas, it was not to be. Shame on me, but even my day has got no more than 24 hours and I also am married to a wife who keeps me fairly busy...  ;-)


Anyway, it says "More Ulisses Miniatures" in the headline, so here we go:


The first one to be revealed is the last mini of the "Thorwaler" faction, the "Hailanzerin" which means something like "Sharklancer".

Next I would like to show the second faction I did two sculpts for, the "Heroes and Villains".

First was the "Söldnerschütze" (Mercenary Marksman).

Second of that faction was the "Schwertgeselle" which I would translate as "Swordfighter" or "Swordbloke".

More of the Ulisses minis and other stuff to come soon.

More Ulisses Miniatures, Part II

Hello again to part 2 of the Ulisses Miniatures revelation posts.

Last time I revealed two of the three "Thorwaler" ladies. Time to show some more guys now.

Miniature number 4 I did for Ulisses was a crazed called "Walwütiger", some kind of battlerager.
Wielding a massive axe he charges to smash his enemies into smithereens.
Like many of the minis I sculpted for Ulisses this too consits of more than one part, two in this case.
And like all of the miniatures I did for Ulisses I used a custom-made one-component putty from my friend and colleague Stefan from Masquerade-Miniatures.

Here some pictures:

On to the "Hetmann" (Chief) of the Thorwalers, number 5 counting-wise. My first one-piece mini for them, though in the preliminary talk it was said that most of the sculpts would be one-piece.
If only they told that to the concept artists...^^

Anyway, here the sole picture I have of that guy:

There you are, five of the six Thorwalers revealed. The last one, a woman again, ist still not revealed by Ulisses, so I want reveal her either. ;-)


The next ones I will show are two fellows of the faction "Heroes and Villains".

Hi again
